TS-1Tool School is a place where you can get hands-on training with all the major power tools in a safe environment, guided by expert builders. In this Friday add-on event, you will have the chance to actually use under the direction of a pro: a table saw, a miter saw, nail gun, sawzall, drill, impact driver, router, grinding wheel, and more.

The day will start out with a general introduction to each tool, key safety tips, what each tool is used for. Then you’ll have a chance to try each tool yourself in a one-on-one session with a building pro to show you the proper technique as you get a feel for the tool. Ear and eye protection will be issued to each attendee that they may keep.

Tool School is an additional cost of $100.

Our Tiny House Masterminds is a free add-on program that you may elect to join. The Mastermind group is a small group of tiny house folks who are paired together the week before the conference via an online group. Each member will receive a worksheet that will let them sketch their floor plan and other tiny house designs to bring with them to the conference. Each person then meets and share in groups during the lunch hours on both days. People will share ideas, resources, connections and offer support where they can. At the close of the conference, people may elect to continue on with their groups.

We will do our best to match people who are geographically close to each other and/or are in similar stages of their build (1-2 years away from building, 6 months or less, about to build or building). This is a bonus for the conference and while we will do our best to match people, it’s up to each person to be engaged and the group to make the Mastermind a success; we are merely the matchmaker.

To join the Masterminds, you’ll receive an email from us soon which will allow you to opt-into this.
